I have a 2002 Road King EFI which has been running rough since pulling it out of winter storage. While riding can feel a vibration in the handlebars and foot boards which make riding unconfortable and tiring. The motor isn't idling smoothly and it seems to be at the max of the power curve at 2700 to 3200rpm. Does anyone think that this is just a bike in need of the upgrades or something else is going on? Currently everything is stock on it, but am considering upgrading to Vance and Hines Slip On Ovals, a K&N air filter and possibly a power commander or Revtech DFO.

Chief a few thoughts;
How many miles has it on the spark plugs & or wires? Maybe your gas is old or your air cleaner is plugged?

Hope this helps,

Was it running fine when you put it away? If it was then the upgrades would be purely optional. I would guess that maybe the gas has a little water in it from condensation over the winter, especially if it was just borderline when it was put away. Also clean the plugs and check the air cleaner as previously posted. If it was running fine when you put it away then it shouldn't take much to get it going again.

The bike only has about 7500 miles and had regular services at 1000, 2500 and 5000 miles. It was running rought with flat spots around the 5000 mile service and the dealership found a intake manifold leak, which seemed to fix the problem. The gas had stabilizer in it, and I have filled it twice now since starting to ride this spring. Will check the plugs/wires and air cleaner. Thanks
