| I just moved from Co to NJ, I put in new jets that the dealer recommened. My 1989 heritage was also in storage for over a year during this move. I put new gas and new plugs in but it's still backfiring and has a hard time accelorating until it gets moving. any suggestions? |

| It was running good in Co. I rejeted because of the attitude change. I went from 9000ft to sea level. it starts good and idles well. when i give it gas it hesitates, i have to slowly get it started and then it runs. It was backfiring and running choppy yesterday. |

| 9,000 ft? You must a been WAYYYYYY up in the Rockies! That's Silverton elvation...
Do you remember what jet sizes you installed?
Did you use a gas stabilizer? Did you flush the tank out? The carb bowl? Clean the petcock filter?
Intake and vacuum leaks?
Stock carb was a Keihin butterfly POS what is on there now?
Suggestions:
Back up to the beginning.
1. Drain fuel, clean petcock filter, check for flow when cranking the engine over.
2. Check float bowl for debris and varnish and float level and needle / seat for debris.
3. Make sure that the fuel line is not rotted.
4. Check for vacuum leaks in the intake.
5. Put in new plugs and check wires. |

| What CD said, and I would check and make sure that jet is the right one. And you might have got crud in your pilot/idle jet. |
