I recently purchased an '02 Roadking. When I tried to check the air pressure in the air shocks I did not get any air pressure to register on the guage, all I got out of the valve was a small amount of oil. I tried to pump (hand pump) air into the shocks but still did not get any air pressure reading. I was afraid to keep pumping air into them so as not to do any damage. I may have bad shocks, maybe a busted diaphragm or ?? Any thoughts on what might be the problem?

I would start by getting a spray bottle of soapy water and have someone help you by pumping on the hand pump, (Remember never to use an air compressor or filling station air hose on your shocks, it will damage the internal parts of the shocks), while someone is pumping on the hand pump, spray all of the fittings with the soapy water and watch for any bubbling. Ride Safe, David.

I've read of this problem on other sites....the common problem is that the bracket they mount the valve to is sometimes too thick or there may be a thin nut on the outside preventing you from getting the valve on your hand pump from fully seating. Without the valve fully seating, you may not be opening the shraeder valve enough to get a reading...you may also not be getting any air into the system.

lots of people would report that they would get a pressure reading while pumping up, then when they removed the pump it all bled off. They were just pumping up the pump and not the shocks.

I will say your parts combination isn't good for your starter as it has very high compression with the 203 cams.

SE203's have an early intake closing to build cyllinder pressure for low end torque...adding 10.5 to 1 pistons to the mix puts a lot of extra stress on everything in your motor and especially the starter after a "hot soak"...which is when you stop rolling to get fuel and the heat in the engine isn't getting pulled out by air flow. Make sure to bump your starter button real quick before actually thumbing it for the start. This will usually allow some pressure to bleed off before the start.

Its possible you had some wind assistance to get to 118...and top speed isn't all that important...its how fast you get from 0-90 thats the most fun.

Its gotta be three digits
like 0-100 Mph
I like to hit 100 before I back off.
It's just a nice round number.

Hey g-man, yes you could do better in the pipe department. If your really into making power then go with an 2into1. A good pipe will make or break you. I personally run a Supertrapp 2-1, my choice because it makes tuning my motor a bit less complicated. There are several good exhausts out there, so just do a little homework before you decide.
Good luck.
