I am having a problem with the left turn signal on my XL1200. When the engine is not running the turn signal seems to work fine. When the engine is running and I push the turn signal button both the front & rear turn signal light up but they don't flash. I suspected it was a loose ground somewhere but have not been able to locate it. I suspect the problem is with the front turn signal and possibly in the connector shown in the wiring diagram.

I have two questions -

1) Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what was the remedy?

2) In the wiring diagram a connector is shown for the front turn signal, does anywhere where this connector is located on the bike?

Thanks,

i cant help with the location, but it sounds like you are losing power to the turnsignal circuit...you are not getting enough electricity to the circuit, with the engine running. how manyvolts at the bulb with the bike off....then with it running??

one other thing......if the turn signal housings are also marker lights, check the bulbs. i have seen filiments from the marker fall onto the turn, and vice versa. this happening on 1157 bulbs.

One other thing...if you changed the turn signals to the ones w/ mini-bulbs, you need to also install a load equalizer. It's a small electronic unit that puts out the proper amperage to allow the new lights to operate the same as the original. When I changed mine out, I had the same problem until I installed the load equalizer.
