Shopguy got is wife a bike.....think that bike also had the "hold it till you turn" type of turn signals.... pretty sure he was able to get something that turned them into the "automatic signals" of today. Not sure of the cost, where he got them or how well they work (last I knew her bike was still in his basement getting "overhauled".....) May PM him and see his reply....or wait and see if he respons on his own. Eitherway, that could be one answer. Maybe others here have more answers??!! good luck!

Hey Chuck
How's it going Nurse
Yea I bought the same year Sportster for my wife and asked the exact same questions. I ordered an aftermarket turn signal cancel module and installed it into the headlight. All of the wiring for the lights runs into the headlight, and I didn't need to cut into the main harness. The circuits you need to tie into have jumper leads between them. If you cut a jumper wire you will be able to solder it to the module and plug it right back into the harness.
I haven't used the bike much since I installed it, but it was acting up a bit. I'm hoping it's just be a loose wire.If you have any other questions I can help you with feel free to shoot me an email.
