here are a few things to check,,,oil, oil pressure, overheating,if it has an O2 sensor it may be bad. also, a service manual is your best friend when trying to trouble shoot problems. hope this helps a bit,let us know.....

In regards to checking for light/icon coming on&off at times;I would first get a
H-D service manual. Some models have a diagnostic connector which enables
you to retreive codes by using a jumper wire& counting icon flashes on your
gauge. Is there any Warranty coverage remaining???.When does the light come
on:cold,warm-up,operating temp.,accelerating,decelerating,cruise,coasting... ???.
The service manual from H-D may contain info you'll never use;but may also
provide info you never thought you would be asking about. The PARTS supplement also provides excellent pictorials for the placement of multiple
parts in the same area.GOOD LUCK!!!
