I'm finally giving up on my 1976 XLH and am considering a 2006 Road King Classic. Seems everyone immediately replaces the exhaust?!?! Why? Sound, performance, looks? Seems the more I read the more I hear of people ahving problems after the remapping is done,is the stock system that bad? If replacement is best which system is best? Some intel please before I buy.

most folks like the bike to make a little noise..stock is a little quiet though I find mine to be ok..[but I'm listening to a stereo so I don't want a lot of noise] Set up properly with a stage one kit..air cleaner/pipe/reflash or power commander or race tuner you can really wake them up..stock the bike is a little stuffed up.One great thing about Harleys is that you can do a million different things to 'em. The Road King is a nice bike..you'll like it.

go for the pipes that sound good. Like the post before me, there are ways to get the punch out of the TC88's with a power commander and high flow air filter.
