Looking for some input,coments,advice???
I have a FXDWG with BARNETTE throttle cables,& a GOODRIDGE brake line.These
are all steel braided & clear caoted.I've tried a coulpe of clutch cables from
BARNETTE & DRAG*SPECIALTIES ,Still find the lever pull too hard.I've routed the
cable as straight as possilble & even tried using a longer cable--not much better.Found an article about '06 DYNA's using a different "ball & ramp" setup
inside the trans. side cover...Any one try this on an older bike???
The article did say it would retro-fit to older models.My bikes a '00 model.

| i am going to assume that the cables are properly lubed.....i have seen a new clutch lever setup that multiplies the pull and attaches to the existing clutch cable. i am not sure if cd has them or not......i think i saw it in jp cycles catalog. i have no experience with them.....just another avenue to look at. i am used to pulling on a mouse trap for the last 20 years.......so the pull on my new 06 is like pulling on cooked spaghetti!!!!!

HEY CHUCK!!!
Wish I could see the bike w/mousetrap linkage!!!,Any way ...Yes the cable was
lubed(used some "marvel" mystery oil in it before I installed it).I would'nt mind
so much if it where a "bar hopper",But I actually do ride this bike more than a pubs distance.Thanks for info chuck. 00 WILDGLIDE | |

| I highly recommend the easyboy lite clutch kit. It's very easy to install and one of the cheapest mods you will ever do to your bike. CD has some listed for older bikes, I'm sure he has them for the newer ones too. I put one on my 2000 FXD, and love it. You won't be sorry. | |

| Did it just get stiffer or was it something new to you i.e. new bike? Clutch pull on H-D's are usually always harder than other brands.
If everything is correctly adjusted, no worn out throw bearing, no bend in the perch etc, the best fix is a product like the Easy Boy light clutch kit from Burly Brand (White Brothers). The clutch kit simply extends the arm, reducing effort.

Of course, hydraulic is always an option but, why spend the $$$? |

| The "clutch pull" is nothing new to me,This is my second DYNA GLIDE & both
of these I purchased NEW.Thanks for recommendations--I did check the
adjustments and they are correct per H-D manual/instructions.I may go with
a H-D hydraulic set-up. | |

| HD has the new one too that they put in the 06 bikes. It combines a modified ball and ramp assembly in combination with a lighter diaphram clutch spring. Cost is about $45.00....but if you've got serious power mods, you'll probably slip the clutch with the light spring. The new ball and ramps combined with the "heavy" screaming eagle spring yields a pull about equivalent to stock.
I personally have the ez-boy lite clutch CD linked to, with the SE heavy clutch spring and the lever pull is half or less than half the stock pull. A huge help to my forearms that suffered some carpal tunnel problems years ago and would act up in city traffic with the stock clutch. | |

Thanks to all for your comments & recommendations.I think I'm going to give
the WHITE BROTHERS kit a try...a lot less than the H-D hydraulic conversion
set-up. | |

Please read the FAQ's including the one on Spam
buy it, install it, save your forearm when you're on a long trip with lots of shifting. Works great. Easy to do Recently changed my '05 FXDWG.
