I had a set of chromed billet wheels (not H-D) on my '00 Softail and never had a lick of problem with them and NO tubes. Maybe they used a faulty valve stem. I've learned that H-D chrome pits and peels very easily. I replaced all the painted and polished engine covers with H-D chrome on the same bike. I rejected many pieces (particularly the rocker covers and trans covers) before I let them go on the bike because of blisters, pits, scratches, etc.
I'm having my old '00 engine covers plated by Brown's in Paducah, KY to put them on my new '06 Softail.
I've also learned not to trust H-D Techs except for one - "Panhead" Debbie at Hampton Roads H-D, Hampton, VA. She's the best mechanic I know anywhere.
