The service manual for the 89 ultraclassic electraglide states the clutch spring plate is suppose to be concave .010 inch with clutch released. The adjusting plate has three position, one of which is marked C ("least compression"). The service manual goes on to read of the plate is concaved more that .010 inch go to the next least compression position. What if its on the least compression position and spring plate is dished greater than .010 inch? Is there an alternative to a new clutch??

Are you using old disc's? If so, are they within spec? There is a note in my manual that says to use an extra steel disc to get the proper stack height.

My service manual don't say nothin about releasing the clutch to adjust, it does say to to produce end play by backing out adjuster screw and then adjust diaphragm for .010. I knew a dude once who tried to adjust the clutch by depressing the hand lever. Good Luck

Thanks mikev270 and dingy. The clutch stack is ok, a little worn but still within specs. Im dude #2, I misread service manual and depressed clutch hand lever then measured the clearance, dah.
