I'm about to rejet my CV on the 05 XL1200.

Anyone care to offer a starting point for sizing the main jet, maybe start with a 175/180?

(I put on the SE slip ons and SE sucker, and it runs great, just a little too rich as evidenced by the popping I get on the down shift)

I have the actual Dynojet Thunderslide kit, but can't really understand how replacing metal with plastic can be any good...

Lookin' to just replace the jets and press on....any help or comments appreciated, as always...

Did you change the jets from stock? Most times, that sound you are hearing is lean pop. Factory settings have the bike very lean to begin with. When you open the exhaust and intake, it gets leaner requiring some rejetting.

Sometimes getting rid of the pop is as simple as adjusting the idle mixture or raising the needle some. If you are familiar with jets and carbs tuning is straight forward without the need for jet kits. For those lesss familiar with carbs, jet kits are a better way to go.

Thanks CD.

And no, I have not replaced anything yet, waiting for time and patience to start it. (And for that matter, the moon, stars, and three planet to line up!)

I think I have some experienced help lined up with the offer of assistance.

Maybe I won't destroy my bike after all!!!
