| You're kidding right? A dealer mechanic pulled the mufflers off? Hmm, can you say super lean, fry your engine, get tickets and be obnoxiously loud sounding?
I really hope that the mechanic you are referring to is not a dealer wrench. If so, I feel sorry for his other victims.
I would strongly suggest having your stock mufflers reinstalled if you cannot wait to get more sound, have them cored by drilling out the baffle. |

| I hope you mean he puched them out and not just removed them? That would be stupid for a dealer to do. He'd be opening himself up to all kinds of possible liablity due to his negligence. |

| Amen Killer B, Amen. But as to the original question: riding whatever doesn't make you look like a punk, sitting on the side of the road with a fried engine because some half a#$@##!@ wrench yanked your mufflers might make ya look either dumb or with a sign on ya saying: "I am GREEN, take advantage of me!"

| What they said, put those mufflers back on ASAP! Yeah it's a bit quiet, but without the mufflers it will be SILENT before long, and that won't be pretty. You'd be much better off waiting for the right stuff to put on.
Would a trustworthy certified H-D mechanic do that to a guy, green or not?
I once knew a guy who did that to his Sporty, it sounded downright bad, IMO. Don't know how long the bike lasted.

| Better for you to have patience and wait on the right stuff than to fry it all out on a whim. |

| I've got a question..wouldn't it be better to break the bike in fully with stock pipes before opening it up some? |

| I like what SK says. I'd worry about the break in before the pipes, unless of course its already broken in... |
