i have a 98 ultra and the left turn signails dont work at times i checked all the bulbs is it a bad switch i would appreate any help

Do you have the service manual? There is a trouble shooting tree in it covering the possible problems. It could be as simple as the switch and that is easy enough to test. Could be a bad connection or even a bad flasher module.
Another thing the manual has is the wiring diagram. That makes life easier when chasing a circuit.

We often say that the service manual is the best tool in your box.
