i was reading one of the forums on here....and the guy was talking about a leaky head gasket...........on a used bike he bought........mine was doing the same thing....after warn up.......the leak would go away.........when i first noticed it........i took it to GOE harley to have it fixed........and they told me they would not just repair the blown head gasket......that my bike(85 FLT) was to old .......and had way to many miles(79,000) on it..........and that i should just replace the whole motor.........for fear of the older motor not being able to handle the new parts replaced..........the messed up part about this........is i have never had the problems....that a lot of people have........leaking oil......odd vibrations...........little noise's that harleys make........so i told them no thank you.......and drove my bike home.............6 months went by....and as long i let the bike warm up......the head gasket would seal.........i was riding back from baumont tx.....(cowboys rally wich by the way was awsome........i still like molly hatchet) when the head gasket strted leaking bad.........the bike is now parked.......and i am replacin jugs pistons and heads.......just because...........i live 300 yards from the coast....so i wanted Black jugs anyway....and those screamin heads are calling my name...........i am hoping because i dont have those noises like everbody else ....that my bottom end is still in good shape...........after all i am a poor texas boy.....who has to save to get what he wants........
