Hey, does anyone know if you buy a ceramic coated exhaust, do you still need heat sheilds or heat tape?

Welcome to Bike Talk.

Generally, you do not need either. Some want the heat shields to keep from burning boots on the pipe and some like the hot rod look of header tape.

I have black ceramic pipes and I love them. I put Joker Chopper pipes on my night train to add to the black out look. A little more powder coating and I'll have to figure out something else to work on! Just to let you know that if you do get melted boot on your pipes acetone is the way to get it off. I had that problem about a month ago and the guys pointed me in the right direction.

I like the look of Paul Yaffe's pipes with the black pipe under a chrome heat shield that has holes to show off the black underneath.

If I ever get around to black ceramic coating my ProPipe, I'm going to do something similar with my heat shields, to accentuate the black pipes.
