Hello All,
I just purchased an 06' Heritage Standard (ESPFI). It came with a shield and saddle bags.
I am wanting to change the exhaust (I don't want it loud, just look nicer and have a deeper sound) and am new at this sort of thing. Just don't know what are the requirements for this procedure. I've been checking out the web and still confused as to what pipes will fit or not and will I need a Power Commander to tune the (ESPFI) after installing the new pipes?
Or just let the HD service guys do it?
Help!

I'm in the same boat, razorwind.
I have an '06 Heritage Softail.
After reading hundreds of posts on this, I decided to go with the V&H pro pipes HS. Best price I've seen is from Direct Parts. I decided to go with a power commander or fuel pack for fuel control rather than the factory download. Also, I will buy an increased air flow system. I intend to replace the gaskets (as advised on this site I think), because the pipes might get disturbed and not seat exactly the same on the old donuts.

You can listen to the sound of their pipes if you navigate into DP's V&H site far enough.

All in all I think this will be close to but below $1,000.

According to my local dealer the pipes can be installed in less than an hour.
They actually talked me into doing the install myself.

I'm saving my pennies and hope to purchase during the off season.
One thing I've noticed is the change in sound from when I first purchased this bike to what it sounds like now after break in.... much better now
