I'm just about to install new exhausts to my 1960 Pan Head. Someone suggested that to stop or rather slow down the discolouring of the exhausts to spray heat resistant paint into the exhaust heads. Will this work or does anyone have a different suggestion?
Cheers form PANHEAD New Zealand.

i have taken hi heat paint and sprayed into the head pipe and let it run down and coated as much of the inside of the pipe as i could......use a rag to hold it with so you can turn it around and not get to much paint on the chrome.....i feel it helped with the prevention of bluing. also keeping the engine tuned will help. at last resort, pipe covers work
let us know how it turns out!!!!!

Header paint or BBQ paint works very well. Do a couple of coats allowing each coat to full dry between the next coat. Clean the inside of the pipe with MEK or Acetone prior to starting.

There are also products like blue shield etc....Basically a caramic type coating. Any of these work better if you can heat them in a warm oven for 24 hours.
