| 07 Modification I think I already know the answer, but here goes anyway...
Does my friend that works with me, who just bought the 07 RK classic need to have his EFI tweaked since he also ordered SE pipes for it?
I told him to ask the service guys where he bought it. I also told him I thought he'd need something like a PC III to make things right for the engine. I still deal with CV's and the like, so I'm not very well versed in the EFI world.
Any tips appreciated...

The '07 is new so the aftermarket is scrambling to get their hands on bikes to evaluate. The PC for the RK is not going to work. It will need to be something like the one for the '06 Dyna models. No one knows about exhaust yet either.....

That's the b!tch of buying a new redesigned model...No accessories!!! I just went through this with a 06 street bob. The new emmisions package SUCKS!!! Hopefully they will get the bugs worked out pretty soon, since the 07 models all have the same emmisions package. And from what I've seen, they are selling the hell out of them. |

| Big differences! I think the emissions packages will be simular to the 2006 dyna with O2 sensors and all, but the ECM will probably be a lot different and the PCIII may not fit into the ECM plug and none of the maps will work right. One big difference between the 06 and 07 models is the engine is a 96 cu in. instead of an 88cu. in.. Don't get the PCIII until power commander has checked the 2007 out.
The other thing to look for is if he gets the flash for the ECM, he better monitor his spark plugs to make sure they aren't running lean. I've heard people on this site complain about getting a software upgrade from the dealer that made injectors run lean. Technically your buddies RK 2007 shouldn't need a PCIII, but if he ever want's to change exhaust or anything, he'll need another flash from the dealer at $180 a pop. I think the PC is a great way to go! I thing in most ways it's a lot smarter than the ECM by itself and you can tweak your settings. Let say when you open up the throttle 2000RPM and it hesitates, you can tweak you PC map to send more fuel to the engine when you need it in such cases. |

| The "old" twin cams will soon be overflowing E-Bay and the cycle traders. All those shiny new cubic inches are out!!!
I'm keeping mine!

| Don't rush to anything new. Ride the '07 and break it in nice and wait til Spring to do anything. Why rush? Let things sort themselves out.

| Hey Scooter and all,
Here is my take on the new closed loop engines. If you install an after market exhaust and you don’t get an engine light while riding, I would think that the MCU has done it’s own compensating for the different air flow thru the engine. It will do this based on the O2 sensors feed back to the MCU. Thus, perfect air/fuel ratio is still obtained.
However, if you have an engine light because of the new exhaust or other modification then the MCU is trying to adjust fuel outside of it’s intended parameters that HD has set. In this case you will need a PCII or III or III or something to essentially fake out the MCU.
Closed loop engines can, in some cases for simple modifications like air cleaners and exhausts, be easier to work with.
If he already has the pipes it won't hurt to try them unless there is a warranty void issue to be carefull of. |

| For now I would either put on the SE pipes which I understand have a deeper tone, or leave it alone until people have had the opportunity to catch up with the motors changes.
When I got the 00 Heritage there was nothing available but HD stuff for the first year of any consequence other than bling and bolt on stuff.
Ride it and enjoy
HD has a race tuner which will probably work with the 07 but you'd have to check the new SE section of the book. Sure they did some work because of the 103 and 110 upgrades being available.

| I saw my first 07 Ultra on a HOG chapter ride Sunday. Cobalt Blue and Gold Pearl White, very pretty bike. Lots of power for a stock bike and the stock pipes put out a much better sound than the 06 and earlier bikes did. At least you can hear them, really sound pretty good. I think if it was my bike I would probably leave it alone.

| 07 Modification I agree with Tomflhric98 if he has already put the pipes on try them, I ride with two other 06 Dyna's one we put V&H Big Radius pipes removed the baffles and replaced them with Thunder Monster Baffles, the other one we put my old SEII slip on mufflers with baffles removed and havve had no problems what so ever. Both bikes have over 8,000 miles on them. I understand the 07's have the same closed loop system on them as the 06 Dyna's have. Hope so anyway i just ordered a 07 Road King Custom Screamin Eagle and the second thing i will do is change the pipes and install the big sucker. |

| 07 Mod The Road King Screamin Eagle Is $29,600.00, Its About 4,000 Less Than The Ultra Classic Se. And There Is Not A Whole Lot U Can Add To It Everything Comes From The Factory. Only Thing I Plan On Changing Is The Seat, To A Mustang, Taller Back Rest And Wider Pad And The Pipes. |
