Anyone know of an exhaust system for an 05 Low Rider that sounds and performs better than stock (80db), but not as loud as V&H Big Shots w/quiet baffles (claimed 92db)? I have a K&N air filter and Power Commander so I can remap EFI.

Most 2-1 systems will be a bit quieter than the drag pipe systems, and outperform them. A propipe fromV&H has a nice low rumble, and performs great. The BUB 2-1 rinehart is a bit louder than most 2-1 systems, but also performs great. If you want quieter than that, look at something with a muffler body. The more restriction, the quieter it will be.

Have you ever heard the SE Slip Fit Pro II+ mufflers on a Dyna? I've seen them in the SE catalogue and they're only $209. If I can sell the V&H Big Shots, maybe I'll give them a try.

I have, they sound alright, but I don't like the look of the mufflers on a bike. I like the look and sound of the bigshot staggered pipes on my 2006 Street Bob. I like the crossover chamber, and the kick the pipes added to my bike. Another thing you may want to try is wrap the baffles in muffler packing (if they are not already). This will really tone down the pipes with standard baffles. This can be toned differently by the amount of packing and the amount of the baffle you wrap. I have a 3" band of thin packing at the tail end of my baffle, and it takes the crack out of the note but doesn't lose the volume. This may be something to try prior to getting rid of the pipes all togather. Good Luck!!!

I had thought of doing that but didn't think there was enough clearance in the pipe to wrap the baffle. I'll have to take one out and check.

There should be enougth room to wrap around one time. You may have to tuck a bit to get it started in the pipe. I used wire to wrap the packing. It doesn't melt and make a mess. The baffle should have a slight taper down sections in the middle that wil accomodate a light amount of packing.

I had these on a 2001 Dyna FXD with the 1 7/8" core. They sounded great and gave the bike some great power. I put these on after removing a set of V&H bigshots after 3 days. They worked great for 4 1/2 years and looked as good as new when I sold the bike.

Gents;

I got some fiberglass and re wrapped the Quiet baffles in the Big Shots.
One baffle had one wrap around with a large gap in the center and the other baffle had fiberglass wrapped around 3 times, (QC issues?). The pipe with more wrap was running very rich and the other was a bit lean. Had the bike Dyno'd after reinstallation of the baffles and pipes and came up with 73.56 max hp and 78.29 max Torque. This is a stock 05 Low Rider with a K&N air filter, V&H Big Shots w/Quiet Baffles and a Power Commander.
I'm still not that pleased with the sound from the pipes, not enough low frequency rumble, too much hard hitting higher frequency pulses.

Best thing I added to the bike is the fork brace (39mm tubes), no more headshake at 85mph, even with a windshield.

If you are looking for that rumble sound, your best bet is to go with a muffler set up. Propipe with the standard (not competition) baffle is the only two into one I have heard and rode on, the SE mufflers will get you close to the sound your are looking for (not sure of the performance).

I Went From Stock To Seii Slip Ons, Like U Still Not Happy With Sound, So Purchased V&h Big Radius, Was Getting Close On Sound Then Found The Thunder Monster Baffles, Has A Good Sound At Idle And Slow Speeds, Smooth Sound At Cruising Speed, But To My Suprise What They Did To Low And Mid Range Was Unreal, I Have A 04 Low Rider (carb), Buddy Of Mine Done The Same Thing To His 06 Wide Glide (efi)
