| I have a 2004 E Glide Standard EFI.... I am wondering if 2003 or 2005 tanks would work. Also, what is the difference between the EFI tanks and carbed tanks?? I am thinking about trying to get an extra tank so I can get some paint done.....without taking the bike out of riding season. Thanks for any input!!! Looking at some of the tanks on Ebay, and know you have to watch out, but feel that if I am going to have paint done, IF any repairs are needed can also do them then also.... just don't think that 600 for a primed tank is in the budget for a new one ! Any input greatly appriciated!

| i think the tanks mountthe same for those years, but i would check a bit deeper.....the difference in carb vs. efi will be in the fittings....there is no petcock on a efi tank, and it is different, it has pressure fittings, and provisions for an electric fuel pump in the tank. the carb tanks are just the old run of the mill type tanks. hope this helps.
what year are you looking for and do you want carb or efi....i have a couple of sourses for used tanks.....

| I have EFI.....FLHT (E GLide Standard) with the EFI. Thinking about if I can get a semi cheap second tank, can have it custom painted without forfitting my primary transportation for 2 weeks...only be down for a day or so at MY convieniance to swap out the tanks....THEN, maybe put my old tank on Ebay!!! Have to see how things go, but that is my original thoughts. |

| looking forward to hearing from you.... almost looks like MAYBE 2003 is different, but maybe 2005 is same??? taking it with grain of salt. also not sure what the difference is between carb and EFI other then what may/may not go inside the tank..... some of the tanks I have seen are listed for both...makes me wonder. I am looking at some of the tanks on ebay that appear to be in good shape for 50-100..... planning on changing the paint so that is no problem....just want to get something that is in good shape and paintable for lower cost. waiting on some "ebay replys" but they are slow at best...probably dont know, so just not going to answer..... would be my luck!! Thanks for the help!!!

| Well, stopped by the HD shop today.... asked what years and such will fit. 2004 through 2007. 2003 will not fit my bike. Also, the EFI and the carb tank are the same thing....it is only how it goes together and what goes inside the tank. If the top opening is large, will fit!! (the old carb tanks have a small opening on the tank so you can not put the pump inside the tanks as in EFI.). SO, I am now on the lookout for a gently used 2004-2007 gas tank that fits FLH modles!

| GREAT!!! just lost my first bid on the bay.....ebay that is.... waited until less then 2 minutes remained...NO bids on the tank, put a decent price on it...and lost....by the time I got the "outbid notice", I received "2" emails...one was the outbid notice, the other was the "you LOST" notice. looking at another one, but it costs a bit more right off the top, and bidding ends tomorrow morning at 1030ish..... nice looking tank, but not sure on the price...and betting it goes WAY higher then I would like to pay if possible. 3rd one that I have in my watch list dosn't expire for about 6 more days!! oh well...gives me MUCH more time to try to figure out what I would like the tank to look like when I get it done! trying to come up with a patriotic theme that would incorporate the AF and Nursing and working in the Neonatal ICU...... not sure the tank is big enuf!!! |

| Well, gas tank arrived today. Looks like it is in GREAT shape....one dent about the size of a quarter....almost looks like a dent in the hood of a car caused by hail or somthing.... don't think it was hail damage tho...unless someone was in the habit of parking their bike on it's side! Now just waiting to hear details on paint!!! Project is slowly moving forward!!! |
