| I think the concensus would be either the Mikuni or the Woods from what I've read. I am NOT a carb guy at all, but that's just what I have seen around. I'm sure Kenfuzed, ReeseSS, Chucktx, or one of the other boys would have some real insight for you. Sorry I'm not much help in that department. They are probably gonna want to know what you're puttin it on too, that would depend on what carb to go with. Post back with more info. |

| I seen a few edelbrocks and they adjustments are hard to get to.
The MIkuni is sweetto me because it has an adjustment for low mid and high...1/4 1/2 3/4-full throttle.ya got a problem half throttle adjust..plus that falt slide really lets the air in fast for a sweet punch out of the gate. However I not used all the others mentioned. But the reason I have chosen the Mikuni is for all the reasons I mention when I have went looking for what I wanted and also come with great instructions (if ya need em') and get to them on the internet now....I even took back my last S&S for a mikuni...Hmmmmm..never thought I 'd do that but hey...... |

| i have been to the shop where Davinci carbs are built. talked to the owner and engineers at length. if i were to get rid of my cv on the 06eg..i would go for the davinci. the workmanship and quality is second to none, with great customer service....and as stated,,,application will play a big part in what to pick.....

| Depends on the engine and the build. What are you contemplating? |

FWIW I would go Woods, I have the S&S Super E and G, had them with thunderjets and without, with Davinci insert and without, Mikuni HSR's etc
None have ever outperformed any CV I've had on the bike. Now I say that as I've put Super E's and G's on a 95 without any difference between the two on a dyno but on the street the E is much better to live with.
Woods carbs are expensive I run a rebel 505 on my stroker and it's great, I could run a superD and maybe show more power on a dyno but it'd be a dog around the town light to light without a pump
So for a mild build (Stage 1 or Stage 2) keep your CV and have it tuned
Once you move into the bigger builds look to a woods or simply move to a larger CV. JMO |

| I still run the CV. I have gone thru it for a few mods..it stll has a thunderjet in the side of it...It is not hooked up though but sure gets the yuppie rubs in a confused state. It'll work just fine for a good long while. It has actually been on several bikes over the years. The Mikuni when it was used though did geive a seat of the pants feeling of more power but htat is just quicker responsiveness. Took the ol' CV into the table and wah bam it is on there again and working quite well. .... Plus the thought of the MIk on the bike versus the ol' reliable historical/traditional CV outrunning most of the locals here is just a clutch shift away. I like it when they spend a butt load of funds and this bike just rolls right on past em. It's the the rider, more than the bike alot of times....Gotta know your rides high points and limitations..before ya go spending a ton of money on stuff. I just hearing them trying to "wind out" a HD and going right thru the powerband. And wonder why they are not pulling away....then bam miss a gear and look like an idiot... I always say Ya looked good in the parking lot...maybe ya ought to keep it there. LOL...All is good... |

| Stick with your stock cv carbie unless youre going really big! Put one a those stage 1 kits on mine last year from harley performance after doin a 95 inch build. Just got my brother to get one for his ride last week also. He had that dynojet install by the dealer before and ran terrible even after 2 tunings by the tech. Put this kit in myself and have dusted them expensive carbed bikes while keepin her stock. Think the woods is just a rebuilt cv with a big pricetag but if youre racing maybe worth it. |

| My brothers first dynojet or the stage 1 kits? that dynojet went in the trash cause we didnt want anyone else to have that headache. Those stage 1 kits we got here http://www.harley-performance.com/stage-1-carb-kit.html |

| Harleyc, please provide a little background. What model Harley, engine size, and type of riding are you planning. This will help others make a recommendation.
I'd personally avoid a couple of those carbs under certain engines and riding conditions, while the weber you couldn't pay me enough to use. If you aren't racing or putting together a monster big bore I'd stick with the stock carb and tune it accordingly. |
