Wd40??????

should have come here first.
after reading a winterizing tech tip from the local harley dealer advising me of using Wd40 on my ride I was a bit sceptical but thought about the properties of this chemical. i know that and have warned others of this crap not to use it as a lubricant as it will stop a squeak for a few moments but will eventually leave whatever you sprayed with it as dry as a mummie's fart.
Now i come to this site and see that you advise to never ever use it on my ride .I only sprayed it on chrome and metal parts and engine casings. what other harm will this have on my ride?

NO! Not on chrome!

WD40 attacks the zinc in chrome and turns it an ugly black just before it blisters and peels off!

JUST KIDDING OF COURSE

You should have no problems with anything by spraying it where you did. If concerned give your bike, especially the engine, a good wash down before you fire it up in case WD40 does cause discoloring from heat. (electric leaf blowers are great for drying)!

I use it all the time, but never on my firearms for fear of discoloring.
