I have 03 dyna she has been in the garage all winter yesterday i went to the garage try to start her no way she is on a tender but after three trys the battery is dead does the tender bring the battery up to a full charge when i put the bike away she was starting strong and it is a brand new aftermarket starter what should i try or should i simply wait till it warms up

what i would do is make sure all the connections are clean and tight then check the tender with a voltmeter to make sure it is working then put a charger on the battery for a little bit to see if that will help it start also if it is a non sealed battery check the levels of electrolite to be certian that they are at the levels they should be let us know how it goes one other thing was the tender a bit warm when you touched it this will give an indication that the tender was working hope this helps

How old is the battery? Another thing and don't take this personal Scalloper, but some dummy I know parked his bike for the winter and hooked up the tender. Went out to the garage in the spring to start her up, and nothing.

What this dummy discovered was that the outlet he plugged the tender into was only hot when the switch for the garage lights was on. After discovering this, he got smart and ran a new line that was hot all the time. He never had a problem after that.

By the way...the dummy was me!!

I've always had good luck with the battery tenders but haven't tried to subject it to constant freezing. The tender is only as good as the connection, so if any corrosion formed at either the quick-connect or the clamps then it couldn't keep the battery charged. When you plug it in you should see a red light if its charging and a green light when it switches to maintenance. If you don't see any light then you don't have a connection.
