I have one pipe in particular showing some blueing about 12" from the tip of the back of pipe from back cylinder (top pipe). Anyone know what I can do to carb to fix problem? Too lean? I personally rejetted (first timer) Bike runs strong still. Help!

It's only the one pipe? Is there an air leak anywhere? Usually, and obviously you know this, the blueing comes from excessive heat, which is too much air. There has to be an air leak somewhere. JMHO. I have also heard that the rear cylinders tend to run hotter than the front but not to that extent. Someone with a better understanding will definitely post back for you. Is there any leak by the intake? (sorry, a little afterthought)

I did just recently add the Arlen Ness big sucker air intake and was left with a stock hose and no where to go. I think it's the breather hose that spits out excess oil. It's definetly just the one pipe but there is some blueing underneath both heat shields toward the front which I think is typical. Thanks for the insight though.

Blueing is definitely a sign of a lean condition, and yes, the rear cylinder is hotter running than the front. The engine is air cooled, thus, the front cyl receives cooler air than the rear. Some pipes do tend to blue easier than others (thin chrome plating, cheaper thinner pipe), but regardless, check out your jets and be sure they're right. With any mods to the intake / exhaust system, you need adjust accordingly.

I've got the Samson fishtail exhaust system and although they look good, I don't think they're highly regarded for performance. Sounds like I'm running lean. Any suggestions on how to adjust a lean running bike?

I did install a jet kit but sounds like I need to do some adjusting.

Thanks,
Eric
