My cluch is very stiff and hard to pull on. Iv'e herd about a few fixes for this I just need the best one being there are so many gimic devices an the market. I lube my cable once every few months. It does make a little difference but not much. (I'm going by memory here) A while back I put in a easy ramp or somthing like that it also made a little diferance,,, not much. I also have a problem with it hanging up and or coming out of adjustment making it dificult to hit neutral while stoped. I adjust it on a regular basis. It's ok for a week or so then it's back to the same ol same ol. Iv'e had it checked out and adjusted by a qualified shop. Same Same. It's a 90-94 primo rivera cluch with a high torque spring. Any suggestions?

I don't know to much about these things, but I did have an experience with my clutch. It was real easy to work, but with the help of one of my buddies (MMI trained), we adjusted the free play and the clutch. It needed it, but now it is very stiff, but I do not have the problems you have with finding neutral or certain gears. I can handle the stiffness of the handle (wow a funny), its not as bad as I think. Just hope there are no further problems with my clutch...

hey fx....i am curious, what oil are you running in your primary. it sounds like you may have more than one problem going on. your clutch plates are not releasing completly, that is why it is hard to find neutral. as far as being hard to pull in, i am not familiar with the type of pull off you have. as for getting out of adjustment after a time frame, it sounds like the cable could be old and stretching, which will not let the plates release also.

Hey chuck and Mwelych....... I get called a lot of names.. Old yes...but never old and stretched. My cables got 11,709 miles worth of wheelies, burnouts and pretty much breaking the law every chance I get on it. I reckon your right, I forgot to check the miles on it. I run Red Line Synthetic automatic transmission fluid. In fact I run red line in all my bikes. Love that stuff... (ooops nevermind). I've ran Harley primary and Harley synthetic and had the same thing happen. I sure am glad I checked into my cluch problem,,,,, I went to adjust my cluch and found play in my cluch hub. As it turns out my inner and outer hub is loose. After pulling my hub I noticed gouges in the inner primary behind my hub (OUCH!). After opening my eyes and finding where the two screws (two of four) were missing I'll call it the inner cluch basket next to the mounting studs for the cluch, presure plate and spring. Nothing striped or broken they just worked their way out due to not a drop of LOCKTIGHT anywhere in sight which is probably why the hub worked it's way loose in the first place. As far as tightening up my hub I need a press to seperat them in order to get to the screws. I do have a little play in my mainshaft. It's so little I can't measure it, but I can feel it when I pull in and out on it. I'll call it a nats *#% or 1/0032 of an inch. That still doesn't fix the problem that I had in the first place it just adds a little moor joy of owning a hot rod. I'm thinken mabey all the adjustmemt problem is I'm not getting the lock nut and adjuster tight enouph. although I'm skeeerd of cracking the adjusting rod. I can't weld so does anybody know where I can get a 11/16 socket with a place for wrench on the end of it. I need to get a allen wrench down in it for adjusting and tightening hard to get to places.

i believe there are sockets on the market built like a sparkplug socket....autolite spark plugs for the harleys are now 11/16. so there must be a socket built for them, with the 6 sided top to put a wrench on. check the autoparts stores. i have also seen socket sets with a ratcheting handle and hollow to allow for screwdriver, ect. access.
