| sporsterboy, are you talking about the final chain drive, like to the rear wheel? Mine is adjusted so that when the bike is loaded, (me on it), there is about an inch of up and down play in the chain. If you're talking about the primary chain, check your manual, but mine says about 5/8" for the primary drive. Hope this helps, but if you have one, always consult your manual. Good luck! |

| I thought the sporty had a drive belt , all models have a bit different adjustment for both , call a good locol shop you can trust & ask them if you don't have a book
but like chucktx say's the manual is the best tool in the box |

| hi sportster......nice to see ya posting again.....and i guess ya didnt get your manual yet!!!! lol lol when adjusting your drive belt with the bike on the ground sitting level, the deflection should be about 1inch......primary as stated in past thread. make sure you move the rear wheel the same distance on each side.....use the coathanger trick......there are 2 holes in the swing arm.....one one each. bend a coat hanger in an L shape and stick in the hole with the long part to the rear........mark it and do the same on the other side.....this will keep the wheel straight and true......have fun.... |

| My Bad, Been Thinking About It All Day, I Was Ask'n About The Primary Chain. I Think It's Loose, Or Maybe The Clutch. Sometimes When I Let Out The Clutch, When I'm Take'n Off In 1st, It Slips Or Hops. Not Real Bad, Mostley It Happen's When It's Still Alittle Cold. But It Is A Issue That Somthing Is Wrong. Hopefully Not A Clutch Problem. No Chuck I Haven't Got That Manual Yet, I Got All Of You With All The Tricks And Knowledge. |
