If you are talking about the shims to convert lifter to a semi solid, they have to come out and be taken apart to install shims. Dutch

Yep, then all he has to do is find a solid lifter profile EVO cam...

Hey Dutch,
Is that the conversion to ease the starter from high compression on start-up? (I'm old school...I installed a heavy duty starter). But, is this what is being asked about - 'deactivators'???

Are you talking S&S Travel limiters? That makes them a semi solid or Hydrosolid lifter, I run them now in all the motors I've put together recently on the advice of my Friend at Bishops Performance.

Simple to install you remove the clip from the top of the lifter, pull off the cap, pop out the spring (be careful those clips can fly over 30 feet from you and hide anywhere)

Pop in the limiter, and assemble by, spring, cover, clip.

When you adjust the pushrods (assuming you are using adjustables) it will rattle for about 20 to 30 miles, then it will suddenly go quiet,

Adjust them to zero lash and back off 3 flats to 5 flats about 1/3 to 1/2 turn.
