The oil pump grenaded and really bent the crankshaft, messed up cam plate too.
Harley blamed me for not alligning oil pump when I put in And. 37h cams 4k ago.
There is not even an allignment procedure for the new pump...
I think excess runout killed the oil pump...Is Harley trying to hose me...?

There is an alignment procedure you can use two tappet block alignment screws for an evo, these are seated then the other two stock screws go in and then remove the alignment pin screws and replace with stock screws.

Some people turn the motor over and let the pump self align and then insert screws.

I'd be looking for someone else to check it out and see why it blew up, hard to believe an oil pump would bend a pinon shaft.

I would let them know they won't be getting the repairs at that dealer if they are treating you that way, but I'd ask for a review by the zone rep as well, dealer can't void the warranty but they can sure advise HD to do so.

If you do have to repair, then I'd suggest putting in a 103 HD or 106 S&S crank and pistons. Might as well kick it up a notch.

If you need assistance, you can pull the motor down to the cases and get them sent off to Zippers to do a bearing swap to the better bearing and let them install the new crank for you. It's all top end from there.

I put it in just like it was an 05...I used the allignment pins and rotated the motor to center the pump...by the book...
When I say it grenaded...I'm not kidding...the oil pickup side was in at least 12 pieces and they were literally shoved out of the way...
I guess some of the pieces were off center and the crankshaft paid the price...the pinion shaft was off .040...
The crank discs were not parallel by .010, the bearings were .008 - .010 out of round...
There was a hard spot when you tried to rotate bare crankshaft on just the bearings...

I am putting in a SE stroker crankshaft and sending it to Darkhorse for their magic...
I found some 9-1 concave pistons to keep the CR at 9.7-1.....
>
The saddest thing about the bike blowing up...IT WAS RUNNING PERFECT!!!
While coasting down a mountain at 60mph in 5th..the red light came on w/o making a sound...I was listening for brake noise ATT...

So it starts... first post you say there is no alignment procedure, then you post and say you aligned it by the book. Problem with telling so many lies so often is you can't keep them straight.

Over on the HTT forums you talk about the same problem, but claim you have a 05 Electra Glide. I guess if the shoe fits...
