Question Shocks

OK. I have checked with a 1/2 dozen suppliers and 2 Harley dealers and gotten different answers, so I'll come to those who know. What is the stock length of shocks on a 1992 Dyna Low-rider?

11.5" for the FXDL
12" for the FXD

They are measured unloaded eye to eye

Something to consider if you are replacing your shocks, take one off so there is no load and measure center of eye to eye. If you like current ride height, order shocks that size (or as close as you can get) if you are trying to raise or lower the ride height, keeping in mind they are at an angle, add or subtract about twice the distance you are trying to change. Like if you want to raise it 1/2" order a shock 1" longer.

also keep in mind that lowering the height reduces cornering clearance, as well as curb clearance.
