Yeah I think he got it off ebay since it had only a couple hundred miles on it.
I too had that same thought of some sort of electronic signal that would simulate it being driven, but I wouldn't want to suggest to him something that blows its circuitry. I think the sensor simply picks up on the rotation within the trans, so maybe he could mount something on a drill motor and use the sensor to read that.
Then again, he could just pass it around to a few of us, we could put some serious miles on it for him
