Got a deal I couldn't pass up although I have gotten all kinds of conflicting information. Here's the deal, I picked up a chrome swing arm, both front/rear wheels, tires, brake calipers, chrome pulley, and chrome belt guards, rear axle, lower legs off of a 2003 Heritage for $625.00. My questions are concerning mounting all this on my 1999 Fatboy (early model) with Evo motor ? I know I'll have to get a narrow belt (150mm tire) , LOL...LOL but first I want to know if it's gonna fit and what about things like the pulley ratios how will the larger pulley affect my transmission and top end speed, will I need to space out the front pulley. I guess if I get it on I'll worry about the fender clearance then : )
I would really appreciate any help I can get..... Thanks

I'd start by taking the time to do some serious measuring of parts. Measure everything you can, pulleys, rotors, rims, etc to see how close they are to your stock stuff before you go and rip the whole bike apart. JMO You may want to talk to a wrench at a local dealership as well to see if they have any advice.

Believe it or not this project started with a broken belt that led to finding a cracked swingarm.

Just did this on a 98 RK, put on a complete 04 rear end, problem was he had recently replaced the belt with a wide belt, so to change to a narrow belt (which might have been easier in the long run) we'd have to pull the whole primary system which was just fixed.

We put on an 04 swingarm and brake caliper, 04 RK Custom wheel and spacers, we had to use the 98 pulley because of the new wide belt, and the problem is the offset on the back of the 98 pulley is nonexistant, the o4 pulley has about a 5/16 offset to align the belt.

So the 98 pulley put the belt on the tire, we ordered a spacer online and had to machine out the center hub stand ring and then we could mount the 98 pulley on the 04 wheel.

gain it would have been easier if we swapped all the parts including the belt and that's what you should do.
In the long run it's the right way.

I know the 00 and up frames changed from the 99 and older because that's when it went from Evo to TC motors

To accomodate the narrow belt you won't need to change the front pulley unless you need to change gears.

00 and up Heritages/fatboys run a 3:15 ratio final drive in 5th. I don't know the teeth count so hopefully someone will chime in but it should work providing you can get the pivot shaft to fit and the swingarm in the frame.

Wow I really appreciate your in put, thank you ! I didn't want to drag out my story to long but the three people that gave me negative feed back HD part desk salesmen, and I had two mechcanics @ Fullerton, L.A. tell me they are full of crap, they said they were just trying to sell stuff to me. They said everything should button up and to keep the pulley ratios close to what came on the Fatboy it would be cheaper to change the front pulley to a 29 tooth. The rear pulley from the Heritage is a 70 tooth and the Fatboy is a 65 tooth. They said the narrow belt would self align on the front pulley just by keeping the narrow pulley on the back ? I needed to change the belt anyway it saw better days. Thanks again and if you can think of anything else I'd appreciate it, and will post my progress. Hmm maybe I should do a open primary while I'm at it ?

It's only money LOL

You got the tools to do the job?

YOu'll need a locking tool for the primary chain, JIms makes one, either that or an impact wrench will work for removal. Installs another thing, better to use a tq wrench.

I would measure across the stock swingarm and the new one, if they are the same at the pivot point thats a good sign.

I would pull the rear off, and put the new swing arm on, sans belt change yet, don't spend money you don't need to until you know it fits.

PUt the rear wheel with spacer, pulley et on the axle and check alignment with bike and fender. If it works then pull the primary.

ALso HD has a super strong narrow belt it's got a special PN for CVO bikes, be sure you order it so you have the stronger belt.

Call Jenny for 20% off once you have the PN

Yup I got the tools... I put my glasses on and took my trusty tape measure and measured everything twice.... looks good to me....... next I think I'll be taking a crash course on sprocket ratios I do have a source for the open belt drive from my brother in laws brother, he should be able to help me with ratios.
I see your in WV Hotroadking.... I'm in CA. but I have family down in Van WV that ride, they are just south of Charleston, have our family reunions there. Some really bitchin roads to ride, took my Glide back a few years ago.
Again thanks for the info...
now let's seeee 3.75+0.925^27.64~6/45 =
