Glad you found one. If they ran that screw in hard enough to break part of the screw off they bottomed it out WAY too deep anyway. Changing it would probably be in order anyway.

i have found that running with the plug out of the screw hole, that the elements get in there and corrode the dissimillar metals, brass and aluminum. when trying to adjust it, the slot will strip away and leave a big OH,OH.....i have had to drill them out before. i think after final adjustments are made, some silicone would help to curb this problem, and make for easy removal for other adjustments........or use an ez screw and some neversieze....

Thanks guys, the A/F screw didn't look too good to me at all, although the tapered tip didn't look damaged, the screw head was, and I also wouldn't trust it. I'll take your tip chucktx and run some neversieze on the ez.adj. when I get it. Just ran down to the harley dealer today and got a new 45 jet along with a new accelerator pump diaphram, and vacuum slide diaphram, so that should put me in pretty good shape as far as the carb rebuild goes. Everything else on the carb looked great. I should get the ez.adj. in a couple days, then I can get it together to see where I'm at with it.

Hey Oldman you figured anything out yet. What's keeping you so quiet lately. Hope it is because you are riding.

Hey wvak47, Well just got the last of the parts in earlier and got my bike all back together. I put the ez. just at 2 1/2 turns out and she started right up after the carb filled, backfired like a machine gun at the beginning though, so I backed out the A/F screw about another 1/2 turn, making it 3 turns out and now I can't get her to backfire at all. I let her sit for an hour and started it up again, she started right up and still no backfires. She rode real smooth at various throttle positions and no problems taking off from a stop, alot of power. The carb now has a #45 slow jet, a #170 main jet, a new vacuum slide, new accelarator pump diaphram, bowl gasket, and the ez. just screw. Nothing else was added so it looks like I'm in good shape now. I'm going for a more lengthly ride tomorrow to see how she holds up.

Well took my bike for a 125 mile round trip on the highway and back and all ran perfect without a problem, so guess its running as it should. I was expecting even a small problem but had none at all. Thanks all for the help and advice.
