i have a 98 ultra classic that has quit on me a couple of times. when it quits one time it fired right back up and he couple other times i had to wait awhile some times over night not only a couple hours. other times i would come out to stat it and i would just crank and crank. i checked the spark and when it will not start i will only have spark on the front cylinder. on time it started and went about 50 feet and it quit and would not restart. i have done a thermo brake down test on the coil and the cam sensor . i did notice one time it was sitting there running i touched the wires goin in to the coil from the ecm and it dropped a cyl. but i can not get it to do it again and i have checked the connection and it is good. any ideas. and also does the computer hold codes like the new ones and if do how can i retreve them.

When you turn on the ignition and then the run switch the engine light on the speedo should come on for about 8 seconds and then shut off. If the engine light comes back on after 4 seconds and stays illuminated for four seconds before extiguishing you have a stored code. To decifer the codes there is a procedure in the service manual to bring up the codes. Now I'll tell you what you've probably heard a hundred times. Buy the book, it's the most important tool in your box. Working on a fuel injected bike without it is like shooting in the dark.
