| Hi I purchased this 85 wide glide it has the 1340 evo eingne and a 4 speed trans. the problem is the gut I purchased it from told me there was a trans problem with it. and now that I rode her now I see. it will shift fine for a little bit but than it will hang in the upper gears . you will beable to shift from 3rd to 4th. and 4th to 3rd but cant get her to shift any lower. if you mess with the shifter for a bit working it up and down as you ride it will go in to 2nd and 1st. will stay ther for alittle bit than do it again. just wanting some ideas what to look for when i tear in to her. and could this be fixed just by removing the top cover or will it need to be pulled out. |

| I think I would check the clutch and its adjustment before tearing into the transmission. One of the other guys will chime in shortly and give you some good advice. |

| well i beleve I figured it out.
when that installed the cover they diddnt have the dogs lined up and bent the follower ( i think thats what its called) it was buinding up on one of the rachet arms. also fount the seal between the trans and the inter primery cover was bad and one of the clutchs had only matrial on half of it. so I will getting some new clutchs and a new seal. easy fix once i figured it out.
Thanks |
