I have a 2005 road king and I heard you can cut 6 inches out of the crossover pipe and drive frost plugs into the pipes where the pipe was that you cut out then just put your heat shield back on and no one even knows that you did this, and supposedly sounds very good too, have any of you guys done this? How does it sound? How is the heat on the left side for the passenger, any different? I figured before I went ahead and did this I should at least hear from someone that has done this because once I cut it out it will be alot harder to put it back in. Thanks, Todd

Do you want true duals or 2-1?

If you want 2-1 you simply weld a freeze plug into the left side pipe inlet on the rear crossover, now you have 2-1 performance (well not really but it's close)

Or you can do the opposite and block off the down tube to the right pipe with a plug making a true dual setup.

One option that works well is to drive the plug into the cross-over leading to the right side but drill a small 3/8" hole in the plug. That way the rear cylinder is using the left pipe almost exclusively yet you get a small amount of crossover to balance out the idle. True duals with a twist.

the "poorman's" true duals have been around for a long time. they work pretty good also.
