| 98 sporty exaust HI I have a '98 sporty 1200c and I'm looking at putting dyno power kick-out drag pipes on. They are 1" an 3/4 and will not except baffles . I was wondering if I should use torque cones or not . I'm a new rider so not sure if I will notice the difference in performance or not. |

| I would either use torque cones or weld a washer on top of a 1/4 inch bolt and drill a hole about 4 inches or as far as you can reach from the back of the drag pipes and install that, looks like a lollipop, my last ride 85 fxrs had drag pipes, I put on a screaming eagle air cleaner and an Ev3 cam and didnt notice a whole lot then I put the washers in the back of the drag pipe, That woke that thing up more than anything, drag pipes are usually only good for top end and they kill your bottom end torque, but they sure do sound nice, I always say I didnt buy a Harley to go Fast , If I wanted fast I would have bought a crotch rocket. I have the same dilemma now on my current ride(see my sig) I know a 2 into 1 pipe would give me way more low end but you cant beat the sound of the true duals.

| FWIW the tq cones probably won't do squat for your power, they might but the odds are, nada. At least the ones I've seen, had a set in my V&H Longshots, didn't do diddly
The washer trick did it though, I used a thumb screw vs welding on a big washer though.
While you might like loud and drag pipes just keep an eye out, LEO's are being told to enforce the noise ordances more often, last thing you want is a ticket, and drag pipes kill the low end power on the bike.
How about an alternative that will get you what you want and keep power.
Grab a set of Cycle shack or Khrome Werks HP+ slip ons, they have removeable baffles so if you want to blow ears off of your gal, or just ride loud you pull them out, drop in the lollypop and you can be as obnoxious as you want. For a longer trip drop in the baffles and get better mileage and power.
With the slip ons you might actually pick up some TQ and HP, with the drags and no baffles you'll probably loose power on an already underpowered bike.
Again JMO.

| I agree with HRK on the torque cones. Put em in a set of Samson short slasher headers and they made no difference performance wise. Save your money. |
