Model: Harley 1993 FLHTC

I have 1993 FLHTC coming home form work volt meter jump to 17 volts for two blocks then drop back to 14 volts were its runs . and jump to 17 volts again and drop back to 14 volts. HELP HELP

if you have a volt meter and know how to use it, check voltage at the battery with the engine running. if the on board voltmeter and hand held are reading the same, the the problem may be the vr. if not, the voltmeter may be the problem....there are step by steps in the service manual....have fun, hope this helps....

have also seen a shorted battey cause voltage spikes on equip. before (plates viberate and short out)

Take the battery to an auto parts store they will load test it for free, that way you can check the battery,

Then do the VR test as described above or visa versa. Whichever you choose sounds like a bad vr.

I got check out its the regulator .never had regulator over charger befor.thank for the help
