Older and Colder

My 01 roadking has over 100k miles.
last fall i noticed as the weather cooled off it ran crappy for the first 10 miles after a cold start. about as if there was dirt in the gas, other than that it still runs good.
any ideas?

You also need to specify carb or EFI; any mods (especially lately); tuning history; if you've moved (changed altitudes is big) etc.....but a WAG would be a failing plug wire, as I had very similar symptoms not too long ago. Still, that is really just a shot in the dark with this little info.

okay
EFI
at 80k i changed to a gear drive cam and increased the cam a little.
other than that i put stage 1 at 10k and a thunder header at 30 k.
I run Mobile 1, Change the plugs and clean the air filter regularly.

i started off the season in March at 80k with the new gears.
I rode it all year and had no issues.
I've never had it to a shop and have done all maintenance myself.

Starts okay, but when i give it some gas i have to feather it.
Once it warms up, after 10 miles or so it runs good.

check for a vacumm leak.....it is leaking when cold, but as it warms up the two surfaces swell and seal again......hoses, mating surfaces with gaskets...ect.....it will be on the intake side of the airfilter...let us know and have fun!!!!

You have a magnetti-marelli efi system. It needs the hot and cold idle adjustments done.

question......why would a computer get out of adjustment???? i asume that the magnetti-marelli efi system is electronic??? i know why and how mech. systems get out, but i thought the efi's were developed to eliminate all that stuff......thanks
