Ok....So, it looks like there is a small chance (have gotten a verbal heads up) that I could be taking an exotic vacation this summer. Here is the question.... If I found someone that would be willing to "putter" on the bike while I am gone...what would be the approximate cost of a mild hop up to 95 or 103 inches? How does it affect the dependability of the bike? I would guess that I would need to do something with jugs, pistons, cams, would go ahead and do true-dual exhaust, and would probably do the Thunderheader with auto tune (know the price of the headers and Thunderheader)...... what am I missing? What would keep the bike STABLE/reliable....know that the more inches and mods, increases some of the keeping it running maintance....I would like to stay as maintance free as possible as I am with the 88....... I don't have the skills to break down the bike (or the space) every couple thousand miles to replace stuff......what is reasonable? What isn't reasonable..... I know there are guys here that have done it!!! SING OUT!!!  at this point it is all thought, but ya never know!

AFN in your case i would go with the HD 95 in , about like Abby just had done to her best friend , just don't let some guy's talk you into needing all HP & compressen release's , I checked into the 95 kit around different shops here & it would be cheeper to have A HD dealer do the swap a 95 in is just bit more power & still very reliable as the 88 is my 2cents

103 is going to require flywheels cases split et etc
I would go with a mild street hop up,
Headwork - I use Bishops Performance in MI www.bishopsperformace.com
Bore cyl - same Bishops
pistons - HD depends on the cams and headword
cams- depends on what you want.
I would lean to woods tw-6 mild street cam plenty of tq or andrews tw37B
Raise compression 10.5 to 1
Should run well

I would recommend putting compression releases on the heads if you are bumping up the comression. It saves on starter wear. Also, gas isn't getting any better and preignition (pinging) is a problem with higher compression. Going above 10-1 puts the motor into the ping zone. You will have to put either a racetuner or power commander on the bike to tune it properly. Factor that into your costs along with a dyno run to tune it properly.

I went with Harley's EFI 95 inch stage one kit..no cams, no headwork, just a low restriction air cleaner, the flash and still using stock mufflers..it ain't no rocket but it'll go pretty good two up pulling a trailer...I've had this setup for three years and 20000 mile..sorry there ain't more but the older I get the less time I have. The bike's been great.

compression releases are a good idea but with a tw-6 (not the 6h) cam you probably won't need them, same if you run the 37B's or S&S 570 cams.
your cranking compression should be in 185 range with that setup and the stock starter can turn it over pretty easy.
Although while the heads are off it's the time to put the releases in, just in case you decide you want more cam, also be sure to replace the valve springs and have them setup to handle up to 600 or 650 lift for future upgrades.
