Does anyone use a tire sealant in their MC. I never have but wondered if its an option or if it screws with the balancing. Planning to put new ME 880 tire front and back on my Heritage STC in the next few weeks and just wondering.

Also anyone know who online has the best price going right now for the metzelers ME880 (130/90-16 & 140/90B-16 Wide WW. I've just started looking tonight and found a couple with free shipping. about $255 for both delivered.

Thanks in advance

i havent considered using anything in my bike tires. i dont feel that there should be a need for it. the regular balancing works for me. i have heard of some folks putting some kind of balls in there tires....i dont want anything running around inside of my tires that could possibly hurt the cords. jmo...

$255 for both tires delivered to you door sound's like a good deal, I have never used any of that stuff in my bikes but do know some who have it just a quick fix to get in from the road to me cheeper then a wrecker & easyer on the bike , where are you looking at for the tires at that price ?

Cowboy,
There are actually two places that I found online last night that were one a few dollars apart, $256 -$258 or something like that and included shipping. I'm at work and can't spend too much time on the pc surfing the web, but will get both places for you tonight. Seems like one of them only had the shipping deal through the end of February.

I took the aluminum wheels off of a Sportster that had some liquid sealer crap in them. It caused all sorts of corrosion on the inside of the rims. I had to wire wheel it all off plus the liquid stuff itself was very messy. The guy at the shop where I had the tires mounted at said he sees it a lot and he recommends to never use the stuff.

After what I went through, I have to agree.

Peace

I won't use it in a street bike. In colder weather I've found it doesnt always flow well and you end up with a bad unbalance. My dirt bikes it really doesn't matter to me if the balance isn't perfect. By the time the day is over My back tire is always flat anyway.

A guy I sometimes ride with had a flat the other day. Someone pulled out a can of tire sealer but we read the label before using. It said it could not be used with tubes and could only be used on tubeless tires. If we had tried, we would have had a mess I'm sure.

Only use it in my dirt bikes and ATV, cuz they see real rubber-cutting action and they max out under 60 MPH. I just don't know if the hassle and added weight is worth it, or even a good idea, on a street bike. That goo can be pretty heavy, and any uneven dispersal in the rim is a scary idea to me. Maybe in an innertube, (I use the green goo ones that Wal-mart sells on my mountain bike) but I don't think I'd even do it free in a tubeless.

Anyone know better?

I just made it home. Thanks for being patient.

here are the two places I found last night for the best price for my tires

which are for metzeler ME 880, front 130/90-16 , rear 140/90B-16 wide white walls

First I found is Speedwaysale.com $264.94 (includes partial free shipping) but price is delivered to zip code.

The other is mototrcycle-superstore.com, not freeshipping but only $254.90 to my zipcode.

I only looked at 3 places but plan to do a little more searching tonight.

good luck..

I got my tires and wheels from Hogpro, in Ca. I don't know what their prices are for tires only, but they made me an awesome deal on the rims and tires, mounted, balanced and shipped ups to my door. Check them out if you like.

Might want to check this for your Metzler's. I got a decent deal on a Dunlop 401 100/90-19 for the front of my piglet

Unless you plan on mounting and balancing them yourself, i would suggest you check with your dealer or indy. If they sell tires they may not want to mess with someone else's tires. Can't really say I'd blame them. AL

that's a good point Al , all the shop's I've talked to around will do it for a fee & that depends on if you bring in the whole bike or just the wheel
