Hey Whacker, not being a smart ass or anything, do you have a manual for your bike and/or did the new switch come with any instructions?? That would be the only way I could see to figure it out. Sorry I can't be of more help....

i would get a volt/ohm meter. about 4 bucks at harbor freight. use the ohm side of the meter and check the old switch. do the same with the new. it might take a bit but it will tell ya which terminals to use......i would put one lead on the battery terminal of the switch, then go to the others to tell which ones are "hot" or not.........

I'm pretty sure that is the case. I replaced one on my 99 Fatboy last season and the new one had an extra lead also. It powered up when the knob was turned so I figured it was just an extra for running lights or something.

I got a volt ohm meter,I will hook the hot lead to the switch, the same place as the old one and go from there,no markings on the new switch, just have to get a new battery. Thanks for the advice.Hope the snow melts pretty soon, and I can feel some warmth(getting tired of these single digit temperatures).....
