I have a 1995 flh I wanted to replace the pistons and I figured since I have the jugs off I should replace the stock piston with 10.5 to 1 / dome style pistons, is there anything I should know or will this be a simple swap? I am also looking at doing the cam any suggestions? one more question I noticed the rear cylinder pipe (tru dual ) smoking ( blue ) mostly when I decelerate would this be the valve seals?

Jakeo1 I;am not sure on the dome pistons for a evo engine , but the blue smoke sound's like oil finding it 's way through the valve seat's or rings , I know we have a few good men around here whop can send you the right info on the pistons , some might be having fun in Daytona this week

JMO I would go with more cc and stay away from the high compression as they have a tendency to be hard on starters, or install compresion release ithink hrk mentioned some high comp pistons he liked if ya are going that way

Depends on everything you're doing to the motor
Blue smoke does sound like a leaky valve seal, I'd have them replaced while the heads are off.
Also you need to get pistons that are compatable with the heads, if they are stock height HD, you can run HD pistons.
Unless you're running a cam that can work with that compression you might want to consider something a bit milder like 9 to 1 flat tops.
You'll want to check valve to piston clearance with clay to be sure you have plenty of room for the parts to work together.
Going larger on CC on an evo can be expensive, not as easy as a twin cam bolt on jugs.
If it's an 80 inch motor I'd put in a cam like Woods W-6 advance it a couple of degrees, the 10.5 pistons, have the heads cleaned up and put on a super E or cv 44 carb. Should run pretty good.

thanks for all the input, I am going to take the heads off to replace the valve seals so I figured I would bump up the compression but, after the feed back would I be better off doing the cam or 9:5 to 1 pistons basicly which would give me the best bang for the buck I don't need to fly just have it if I need it.

Woods cams like a bit more compression than others but 9 to 1 should work, that or an andrews 27 cam works good.
If it's a daily or weekend rider I'd err to the milder side, you can deck the heads but then it's clearance check time, I'd bump compression with pistons and put in the woods w-6 cam,
Do you have a shop that does a good job on cleaning up heads and intake manifolds? If not contact Bill at Bishops Bishop's Performance - Parts & Service for Harley Davidson, Buell, and other American V-Twins
He has a mild street port job that's around $400 or so ship them to him in MI
You really want to put the whole thing together as a package, that 80 will run good and pull well with the mild cam and some head work.
