I am currently building a CCI Goliath kit bike. The chrome rear shocks(adjustable) that came with the kit are a CCI no name brand with out
any specs. Has anyone had any experience with this shocks? Would it be worth the extra cash to upgrade to a better (known) shock such as the Progressive 413 series?

I built the same kit. I have a set of air tails on order. the orig shocks wore out after 2000m. what junk. I keep bottoming out on he stops. Make the investment.

Also, the battery sucks too. I got a thunderheart 350 CCA and added compression releases. What a difference. Other than that, the kit is great. Did youget the 100 or the 110? Get the 110 if you have the bucks.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to order the shocks today and keep in mind
the battery upgrade for now. I got lucky, they sent me the 110 for the
same price as the 100. I was told that the 100's were on a 6 week
back order.

As a side note, CCI just informed us that adding compression releases may void the warranty on the engine. They have received several engines with compression releases installed that were carboned up and allowing air into the combustion chamber which leaned out the mixture and fries the piston.

And, yeah the shocks and battery are low budget items but do you want to pay the additional $$$ up front to get progressives and a gel battery then be locked into using them or selling the shocks on E-Bay because your project called for a Legends suspension? The idea of these kits are to provide a solid basic ride that can be customized to your individual desires and keep the costs low and the kits affordable.

The CCI Kits are worth the cash. Most of the upgrade to date have been
cosmetic. IE: front fender, tank ,front turn signals. As far as the shocks
and other mechanical parts I think it is important to get feed back from
others, so I can swap out low cost parts if I choose. For a few dollars more
I would rather build the bike once! THIS IS WHY THIS FORUM WAS A GREAT
FIND FOR ME!!
It's to bad the CCI does not have an upgrade program for their kits. I guess
it would create to much paper work and tracking problems. Just won't be cost
effective.

I understand the need to keep costs low. However, 2000 miles on a set of shocks is not right. Having a battery that wont turn the motor over is not right. Maybe these two items should be upgraded in the kit itself.
