I installed v/h slip on fishtails with louvered core baffles and k/n high flow kit.Had the stage 1 download yesterday and it pops when I downshift. Is this the nature of the v/h or a tuning problem? My brother said it sounds great and the popping is not annoying.Any thoughts would be apprieciated.

Sounds like "snap-crackle-pop" when you let off the throttle?? Running too rich is the most common cause. Exhaust leak and/or intake leak can contibute too.

first thing i learned to do the hard way was to rule out the possibilty of a exhaust leak, this will likely be at the header pipe muffler joint. a common cause is the use of v/h clamps. if you're using them get rid of them, and go back to the HD ones. may want to consider using some hi temp silicone stuff. torgue em to around 45-60 lbs. then re-torque after the exhaust is good and hot. also double check where they bolt to the heads(now we're talking in. lbs, if all is right at this point i'd be thinking about letting the steeler try another shot in the dark

just a follow-up to my post. My buddy and I were riding and really getting on them. I let off of it and he said there was flames coming out the left side muffler.
Skull,
In your reply you said let the dealer have another shot.
Can they do a different download? I checked for exhaust leaks and don't
seem to have any.

as i understand they should have numerous ones for that application. i would think they should do it at no cost to you. next thing they'll want to do is dyno it, which i doubt will be free. good luck with them. something don't sound right
