With iron cylinders it's going to run hotter than an aluminum engine & older iron engines should always use straight-weight oil. I do in the Evos.
If SAE 50 or 60 doesn't drop the oil temps enough then I'd recommend the oil cooler ECS Engineering makes. I've seen it drop oil temps 50 degrees & even more. And the bike desn't even have to be moving for it to work.
The cooler is not listed on the little website, as it's selling by word-of-mouth as fast as they can make them, but the contact info is on the front page: ECS ENGINEERING
No I don't work for ECS, get paid a commission or anything like that, but it's the shop I go to for things I don't have the tools or equipment to do myself. |

| I know it's been dyno'd but for what, mileage or power?
If setup for power a lot of times these motors are advanced and that will increase temps, depending on the motor size you might want to retard the timing some to see if that helps.
Helped out on the 113 along with a Jagg cooler setup, syn oil, you may want to go heavier weight oil as well. |

Kendall used to but I haven't seen that in years. I've got some 70 Red Line for the LSR engine, but talk about expensive stuff ..... Good 'ol Valvoline 50 & 60 I've gotten @ Wally-Mart or Sam's Club by the case & even the little NAPA store locally carries it.
Multi-grade's for liquid-cooled, themostatically-controlled engines, not for Harleys & darn sure not for iron air (oil) cooled engines. No, I don't care what H-D says about the "Syn 3" one size fits all deal & remember it wasn't all that long ago that dealers were saying they'd void your warranty for using synthetic. |

Heck HD never tested any oil but Syn3, even some of the magazines got all over the HD tech people who were using the company line that no oil has met the HD requirements as tested like Syn3... well it came out they didn't test any oils. |
