| Hi all,
Perhaps this is related to my erratic speedometer, I'm not sure. I have NOT pulled the speedometer transducer and cleaned it yet, but now my left turn signal usually doesn't work. When I first start out, if i use it, it might flash 2 or 3 times. After riding for 5 minutes or longer, it no longer works at all. I replaced the bulbs, still the same symptom. If I am at a dead stop and hit the turn signal switch the indicator on the speedometer sometimes will flash dimmly for a brief time (have to watch closely to catch it). When I get home, I let the bike idle in the driveway while I open the garage door. Without shutting the bike off, I try the left signal and it usually works. Any ideas from you gurus out there? The indy shop i used to use closed recently and I really DON'T want to have to rely on the stealer for this one. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I haven't had much time to work on my bike, I still have a new enrichener cable I need to install and now the issue with the turn signal. If I have any free time, I'm riding, not wrenchin'. The turn signal thing though is a little higher priority with me; in FL, one needs all the help one can get to keep the cagers off your "six".
TIA,
Steve |

| My guess is it's not a sensor or it'd just go out, they tend to work or not and it would do it left or right turn.
I would pull the bulb, check it's connectivity, IE is it tight, put di-electric grease on it, and other bulbs and connections the moisture in FL plays havoc with electrical contacts especially if you live by the sea
I would suspect a faulty wire that is exposed and grounding out or a poor bulb fit.
Electricals are a process of elimination.
Get amulti meter check each part,
Get a service manual if you're not going to trust a dealer or don't have a good indy shop near you.
Plus it's not that complicated a bike to work on. |

| Thanks Hotroadking,
I DO have a multi meter and a service manual. I know that intermittent problems are the absolute worst kind to troubleshoot. It very well could be a vibration "thing", maybe just sitting at idle is not enough vibration? I looked at the bulb sockets when I replaced the bulbs; had grease and no corrosion. Guess the next step will be putting the meter in (or turning the turn signal on) and wiggling all the wires.
Thanks |

| I'd do that before tossing parts at it.
Sounds like a wire issue or connector |
