Hello All;
I have a 2001 Heritage Springer. i have recently added the TCC True-Dual Kit, Supertrapp Slip-ons with fishtails, a Big Sucker air cleaner system and a Power Commander PC111 unit. having done all that, I finally have the sound and performance about where I want it except for one thing: The idle setting. Stock setting is too high, making the bike sound more like a sewing machine than a H-D. Is there any method to adjust the idle down on an EFI TC88 that doesn't require going to a stealership and paying the price to have a scanalizer atttached? I dont want it so low that it can't pump oil; but it should be able to come down enough to get me a bit of a "lope" in the idle sound. Any thoughts are appreciated.

quick and dirty method is adjust the cold idle first ( the small torx on the upper right side , by the throttle cables,) the warm her up for about 10 minutes, the adjust the hot idle screw, (another small torx T-10)through the hole in the air cleaner backing plate. Adjust her to 1050 rpm's the remove the fuse for the ECM (under right side cover) for about 30 seconds. This will reset the ECM to the new idle settings. Beware, those systems are very tempermantal, especially when dealing with non stock components (power comm, cams, etc...) Sometimes the idle will change a little after the air cleaner is bolted back up, you may have to do it again. Good luck.... Oh yeah, the lope not a good idea on theses twin cam Harleys. With two cams its not really a natural state of affairs like on the shovelheads. The bike doesnt charge like it should, oil press is lowered, just not a good idea. 1050 is a nice happy place for a twin cam hot idle.

Thanks; That's a good point about the Twin Cam; I hadn't thought of that. It's a shame though as that "lope" is one of the things that has made H-D so unique for all these years. I will cool her down to 1050 or so and see if it helps at all.

GG,
Everything I have heard, read and seen says that is a not a good idea since it makes the IAC warm up table incorrect?
http://www.visi.com/~moperfserv/57mmTBsetup.htm

I understand what you are saying but the relationship between the TPS and the IAC table is now different as you have reset the blade angle right which alters the TPS reading right?

I know this method works on the Magnetto Morelli like I have on the 2KRK but, it has a totally different EFI.

What I do know is the Harley Race Tuner allows you to set the idle using the IAC table by altering the steps.

I would not go below 900-1000 either for the same reasons. The stock oil pump sucks as it is and the cam chains get enough beating...

Let me know if you know this works so I can file it away.

The Magnetto Morelli was used on baggers from 96-01 never on Softails. The Delphi is used on the Softails and all '02 and later baggers. Now I understand where GG may be coming from.... I am so used to thinking in terms of which is which that I do it automatically....
