I have an 05 springer classic-stage1-vance n hines fish tails and k/n high flow. I purchased a power commander from fuel moto and have talked to Jamie several times about this problem. I have 15s in the 0 throttle position and it semmed to help but, not eliminate the problem. I tried 20s but,it made it worse. I ckecked for exhaust leaks and everything seems o.k.
I'm ready to give up and live with the pop's but, thought maybe you guys could shed a little light on my problem

before doing much more with the pc111 make sure you're not leaking at the muffler header joint on your exhaust. are you using those V/H clamps. if so i'd consider going back to the stock HD ones. they're by far superior to anything i've ever found on the market so far. a leak there will cause the popping an farting and make you feel like your're running in circles with the PC111

I used the original h-d clamps and high temp silicone when I installed the mufflers and can't find a leak around the joint.

I had an extremely hard to find exhaust leak that was found non-conventional

May sound strange, but a sure-fire way to find the leak if it exist.....like trying to find a small leak in a tire. Use lots of suds around all joints, and start with cold exhaust and try blocking off end of exhaust pipes with a rag as much as possible to create more back pressure. I have even used kids bubble maker in lieu of soap! It works better than the naked ear.

Also, I had a friend that had popping, etc. after PC install which was corrected when he took it and had it re-mapped on a dyno by the speed shop in Daytona. He had no exhaust leaks.

sounds like you already covered the leak thing. if i was in your situation, and believe me been there. i'd go back to the canned map and start over. sounds like a lot of fuel at idle. when i make adjustments i do 3-5 at a time otherwise you can end up buried with those tempting larger ones. how bad is the popping and farting, this is like a curse to big open pipes. not sure it's possible to entirely eliminate the problem, especially going downhill in a low gear. something which helps is BACK PRESSURE, sounds like what your're running is very simular to V/H longshots. So . . . . if you're to possiblly eliminate it all together i would recommend the following:

1. a well put together and thought out map ( might think about the timing)

2. increase the back pressure

3. change in driving habits, i.e shift up when you shut the throttle.

How can I increase back pressure without installing baffles?
I like the sound of the pipes but, feel like I lost alot of torque when I installed the pipes. ( I'm guessing from lack of back pressure) Could be causing some of the popping. Thx

you might want to think about torque cones, or the olde lollie pop thing. even with baffles those pipes are going to be loud, you might even like it better with baffles. it'll be hard to create much BP w/o using some sort of baffles.

check out this web site- big city thunder.com - and read about the thunder monster baffle. put this on my set-up v/h big radius, pcIII and big sucker II. it sounds awsome, no popping or spitting. i ride a 06 dyna lowrider fxdli. bill

Loss of torque and decel popping is what happens when you run straight unbaffled pipes.
A set of baffles and/or torque cones will help cure your problem.
