Is there a trick/special tool or what to removing the shifter arm from a 91 softail 5 spd trany. not enough clearance by 2nd gear countershaft????

Nope.... It is one of those PITA things requiring a near tear down to get to. If the centering spring broke make sure you get the broken piece out also.
