Engine flush

This may seem a bit silly a question. When I purchased my sporty, the previous owner was using standard oil. I changed to the HD synth oil. Since then I have been getting the occasional false nuetral, particularly when downshifting between 5th and 4th. Doing a bit of research on the web, I find this is fairly common with the HD synth oil. I have decided to go with the Amsoil synth oil.

Does anyone recommend an engine flush? If so, what should I use, and what procedure should I follow?

Thanks

i don't. only thing i would use in a crank case is oil. those flushes can cause leaks, plus they can cause the rings to colapse into the pistons and smoke like helll. had it happen with a car once. best way to flush an engine is freq. oil changes

No to the flushing crap...just change the oil and do it regularly. I 've seen some cars that the owners were "sold" an engine flush and they started leaking at seals and O rings....The stuff is snake oil... stay away from it!!

Thanks for the replies, and I will not use any engine flush. As far as the sporty, I do not have the 'factory' manual but I have an aftermarket manual and Buzzeli's performance handbook. The primary, transmission, and crankcase are all in one, unlike the bigger engines with the three oils systems.

Thanks again,
Panth

The factory Service Manual and Parts catalog are the best you can get, Some aftermarket ones are OK but the "genuine HD" in this case is better.
